As technology and virtually everything we touch and interact with becomes smarter, some people are hitting the pause button. Do I really need a smarter home? Will it complicate my simple life? Schneider Electric set out to prove that home technology can make your life better. And that they not only make homes smarter—they make them Wiser.
We had to demonstrate how the Wiser home system was not only simple to install and use, but that even the least tech savvy consumer could control key aspects of their home—from its lighting to its heating and cooling to its energy efficiency—with the touch of a button. The Life is On experience invited users to explore a series of rooms, each with a different character, and see for themselves how Wiser can help them take control of their lives.
We used WebGL to build a custom video player, allowing us to create layers of videos that could be played at once. The level of interactivity gave users a sense of control—similar to how they would really control their home system. In fact, the most challenging aspect of the project was stitching loops of videos seamlessly together at the user’s command. It was a collective effort of planning, directing, footage selection, looping and video layering.
As people flocked to get a taste of what the Wiser home system was all about, we proved time and time again that technology doesn’t have to be complicated. It can, if it’s smart, make your life Wiser.
