Dubai is the epicenter of innovation, and to prove it, a futuristic mall was created – it would lead the world as a retail, lifestyle and entertainment destination. But there was one problem: It wasn’t built yet. That’s why Emaar set out to create a virtual mall to excite shoppers and adventurers with what was to come.
We created a stunning AR experience that epitomized the vision. It fused structural design, lighting and, of course, augmented reality, debuting at a VIP exclusive event with 250 guests.
Guests could overlay iPads on predetermined markers on a life-sized blueprint to trigger various AR scenes. Each marker depicted a shopping experience that would happen at the future mall, including shopping for perfume, jewelry, food, cosmetics and fashion. Mr. Mohamed Alabbar, Chairman of Emaar Properties, gave a presentation as guests explored.
There was nothing more thrilling than seeing guests’ faces light-up as the AR mall was unveiled—and they couldn’t stop sharing this jaw dropping experience across social media. While the physical mall will be a reality in a couple of years, guests were delighted to get a glimpse of what the future holds.
