ART

When the world shut down, we helped The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Verizon reimagine what it means to visit a museum – bringing one of the world’s greatest cultural institutions into people’s homes.

With physical doors closed, the challenge was clear: how do you deliver meaningful access to art when audiences can’t visit in person? The answer was to completely rethink the museum experience for a digital-first world.

“ This is an opportunity to experience art like never before. Explore virtual galleries, solve puzzles, and take your favorite art home – in AR. In times, when you can’t go to the Met, we bring the Met to you.

EXECUTION

By blurring the line between physical and virtual, we created a new kind of museum visit. Using Web-AR and immersive 360 environments, users were transported into a true-to-scale recreation of iconic Met spaces – including multiple galleries and the Great Hall – alongside newly imagined digital environments designed for exploration and play.

Part AR experience, part game, part virtual tour, visitors navigated galleries, interacted with artworks, and completed educational challenges. Those who proved themselves unlocked the role ofart loaners– temporarily borrowing digital versions of selected artworks to display on their own walls in augmented reality.

For users on Verizon’s 5G Ultra Wideband network, additional features unlocked deeper levels of interaction, taking advantage of ultra-fast speeds to enhance immersion.
