// At first glance – two billboards. But on closer inspection: a zombie apocalypse and a room full of marshmallows _
For the Quest 3's Halloween launch, Meta needed something that felt like the headset — an experience that blurred what's real. UNIT9 built two experiential billboards in San Francisco that looked, from the outside, like normal OOH displays. They weren't.

" The pre-vis and the built environment had to agree — down to the centimetre. When you're syncing lighting and sound to a guest's exact position, there's no room for 'close enough'.

EXECUTION
Two billboards, each hiding a world. The Walking Dead sent guests through a path of zombies and jump scares — interactive props, a themed General Store for photos — before the Quest 3 game began.
The Ghostbusters set had its own logic: a rainstorm to step through, a room built entirely from marshmallows, and a recreation of the San Francisco Ghostbusters office complete with a Golden Gate Bridge view.
Interactive lighting and sound tracked guests' movements throughout — wireless lighting cutting atmospheric pathways, the environment shifting in real time around whoever was inside it.

The technical centrepiece was a water screen display backed by high-lumen projectors and a full media server, creating a hybrid visual layer that sat between the physical set and the virtual game.

Every guest left with something. Brand ambassadors captured photos and gameplay throughout; a personalised digital reel — themed around whichever franchise they'd stepped into — was waiting at a QR code on the way out.

RESULTS
The first people to play Ghostbusters and The Walking Dead on Quest 3 walked through a billboard to do it.
// Meta's Halloween activation gave guests more than a product demo — it gave them a story to tell. The sets, the sound, the water screen, the marshmallows: every element was designed to be remembered and shared. A new template for what OOH can be when the brief stops at the surface and we can get our hands on what's behind it_
