AMC leaves the movie classics for the meth lab.
Further reshaping its image, cable network AMC is following up its first round of original programming, the hit Mad Men, with a new series called Breaking Bad. The show, titled after slang for turning outlaw, stars Malcolm in the Middle alum Bryan Cranston as a New Mexico chemistry teacher whose terminal diagnosis liberates and leads him to a career doling out drugs via a mobile, Winnebago-based meth lab in an effort to finance his family after his passing.
The promotional site for the genre-blurring series, created by mono with help from the U.K.'s unit9, offers a 5-minute opening scene of its premiere episode, and a second page with several clickable, revolving images pertaining to Breaking Bad, including a gas mask, DEA walkie talkie, a revolver and a breakable periodic table of elements. As meandering ambient music loops in the background, you're eventually led to a rotating page that offers a 360-degree view of the barren desert landscape, which serves as the setting for the show's opening moments. Within the page, there are several subtly hidded links to access more content pertaining to the show.
